He didn't choke, but it sounds like he came apart mentally in the TB and thereafter

mardy is playing Massu for what is, I think, the first time since the Olympics, tomorrow on GRASS at the Boodles exhibition. Doesn't mean anything but will be good matchplay and confidence-builder (hopefully!!!!) for Wimby.

good luck mardy

Re: The "If he wins on clay, imagine what he'll do during the GRASS SEASON" thread!

EEEE (: Good luck (:

I know this is irrelevant, but on Sunday i saw Mardy for the first time in real life when he came out to support James in the final and UMMM he's even hotter in real life. The end.

The Tennis Diet:
On the eve of the Roddick/Cilic match, my brother made Seafood Marinara. Can't eat it,
it's not part of the diet; it is enemy food. ie. Marin-ara Cilic.
I also did not eat Curry 'cos it rhymes with Murray.

I fangirl for Roddickulous, Youzhless and the Djoke.

Re: The "If he wins on clay, imagine what he'll do during the GRASS SEASON" thread!

Looks like Mardy got his groove on for the last 2 sets Ok don't shoot me. I am not really that much of a fan although I must say after watching the houston final and seeing him give 5 to that little ballboy I have a whole new perspective on Mr Fish However temper tantrums BUT he beat Massu; exhibition or not so that is cause for celebration

Re: The "If he wins on clay, imagine what he'll do during the GRASS SEASON" thread!

mardy's a good guy, he just sometimes gets cranky on court. he's very funny, a jokester, that's why I like him. I accept that his personality isn't perfect and that he's not always an angel on court, and I don't like it, which is why he could never probably be a real top fave of mine. but his game just melts me to pieces.

Yep so to repeat myself- watching the houston tournie gave me a whole new perspective. I was a bit blinded by stupidity prior to that. That one gesture to that ballboy just completely won me over. And I have always liked his game. I feel he has a more complete game than other Americans, especially on fast courts. And I think this year he has stepped up by playing challenges to improve his ranking. You have to put your ego aside to do that.

Yep as far as natural talent, he probably has more than any of the other Americans (dare I say even Andre, though his ball-striking ability is spectacular). but as far as the talent for a really complete game, Mardy's got it all. His biggest obstacle has always been his head. He had that run in cincy 3 years ago where after the first round he wasn't broken the whole rest of the tourney - that's pretty impressive for a masters tourney, esp. if you look at who he beat. So, it's great that he's healthy and fit and all that stuff and did the work in the off-season. his movement is still a bit suspect sometimes but it's better than it was before he got hurt - I think he definitely has the potential to have a good summer.

He's had some pretty un-proud moments on court but, I hope he can work through that as he matures. He's just sort of a natural athlete and I believe picked up tennis relatively late. He's also (I believe) ambidextrous, which explains why his BH is so effin awesome.

Ok the unproud moments on court I will give in to I don't want to know about anything off court. Ever

I don't know much about him off court, just that he seems like a nice guy, pretty good with fans, has a good sense of humor, does a lot of charity stuff, etc
