Yep so to repeat myself- watching the houston tournie gave me a whole new perspective. I was a bit blinded by stupidity prior to that. That one gesture to that ballboy just completely won me over. And I have always liked his game. I feel he has a more complete game than other Americans, especially on fast courts. And I think this year he has stepped up by playing challenges to improve his ranking. You have to put your ego aside to do that.
as far as natural talent, he probably has more than any of the other Americans (dare I say even Andre, though his ball-striking ability is spectacular). but as far as the talent for a really complete game, Mardy's got it all. His biggest obstacle has always been his head. He had that run in cincy 3 years ago where after the first round he wasn't broken the whole rest of the tourney - that's pretty impressive for a masters tourney, esp. if you look at who he beat. So, it's great that he's healthy and fit and all that stuff and did the work in the off-season. his movement is still a bit suspect sometimes but it's better than it was before he got hurt - I think he definitely has the potential to have a good summer.
He's had some pretty un-proud moments on court but, I hope he can work through that as he matures. He's just sort of a natural athlete and I believe picked up tennis relatively late. He's also (I believe) ambidextrous, which explains why his BH is so effin awesome.
