Re: Mardy in Madrid!

I think Mardy is a long way away from the choking Every time it seems like he'll get past it he goes and has a horrible tourney right after. Check his good results - every time he makes a final or something he crashes out early the following tourney

Re: Mardy in Madrid!

yeah but he does actually have issues in the finals he should have stormed the olympics but had the whole fake injury thing to deal with he needs to be more aggressive even if the other player is hurt he shoudl just finish them off if they're that bad they'll withdraw!

he actually reminds me of my football team (i'm a fulham supporter for those who know anything about footy) in the way that he seems to lift himself for the big matches but then let someone who he should beat easily walk all over him, he needs concentrate, but he's getting there he's still learning and he's getting closer.

Good Luck to my boys

Re: Mardy in Madrid!

he's basically inconsistent.. a good tournie for him would sometimes be followed by a bad one.. he cant seem to maintain the consistency.. i hope that changes cause that and his head/attitude is preventing him from getting to his full potential

Re: Mardy in Madrid!

he has issues in finals, but beyond that is what is even worse.

Last year, here are the finals he made, then what he did next tourney

Delray (then lost 3rd round to Escude in Miami)
Nottingham (then loses 3rd round to Fed at Wimby, ok we forgive him for this, nothing he can do about losing to Fed at Wimby)
Cincy (then loses SECOND round at USO to Kucera)
Stockholm (he wins this then loses first round in Paris to Guga)

He makes the final of Cincy last year without being broken, beats all these top players, then loses to Kucera in the USO. Same thing happens this year with the Olympics and Tabara. and last year with Stockholm and Paris.... having a good tournament doesn't really actually seem to boost his confidence much at all.

In fact the ONLY time he's had a good tourney backed up by another is this year, San Jose, he made the final and then the next week made the SF at Memphis where his shoulder was really bothering him from playing too much... if playing two small tournies is too much tennis for his shoulder, the dude has more problems than just his head.

He will be consistent once he figures out himself and his game and to be hundred percent confident in himself

Re: Mardy in Madrid!

Mardy's for sure in the worst quarter of the draw I don't really see him being able to get past Ancic... but we'll hope for the best.

Re: Mardy in Madrid!

I think Mardy should get past Ancic.. he doesn't have too tough of a time with serve/volleyers

Good luck Mardy
