Here's an interview with Mardy after his victory over Rainer. Found it on the Gerry Weber Open website
It just seemed you lost intensity after the first set. Is that right?
No, not really. Nevertheless I breaked him in the third again, at the end I was back into the match.
Are you satisfied with your overall performance?
Yes, absolutely. I had a couple of months off before the tournament, and naturally Iím not that kind of player who comes back and wins immediately some more matches. I owe this to my service which has stucked me through this week. I hope I can trust on it tomorrow, too.
Itís a bit unusual, that you are playing in Halle. Most of the other Americans play Queens. How do you feel here?
Iím here the first time and I really like it. Iíll definitely come back. The food is great, the hotel, too. The circumstances are quite perfect, that is a perfect week for us.
Now Roger Federer is waiting. How good do you know him?
Last time we fought each other he won 6:2, 6:2. Tomorrow itíll be hopefully a better party. If I play better Iíll have the chance to beat him. Roger is the player I favour to play against. But heís also the best.
What is your comment about the German crowd here?
Well, they really love Rainer, donít they? But I love it, when the crowd is firing him up euphorically, this is more fun for me. I love to play against good opponents. Itís great to beat a top 10 player, especially in his home.

Oh Mardy, I'm sorry you got run over by the Fed Express today but, seeing as how you just came back from a hip injury and made the finals of Halle--your first time there--you did a terrific job! Keep up the great playing and keep improving! Onward to Wimbledon.
Tough loss : American Mardy Fish lies on the court after his defeat during the final of the ATP tennis tournament Gerry Weber Open against Roger Federer.
Congrats to Andy Roddick, 2017 Hall of Fame!
