Other great matches (but not Grand Slam)

DAVIS CUP 1989 SF (USA vs GERMANY) - 21 July 1989

B.Becker - A.Agassi 6-7(4) 6-7(5) 7-6(4) 6-3 6-4 - unbelievable match. Agassi had 7-6,7-6,6-5 (30-15) on serve, but Becker survived and took this set in tiebreak. After that play was suspended. The next day Becker won 6:3 in the fourth set. But in the fifth Agassi broke his opponent and was leading 4-3! Becker won three games in a row. This match lasted above 4 hours and 30 minutes. It was one of the best Davis Cup matches.

Compaq Grand Slam Cup 1993 semifinal

P.Korda - P.Sampras 3-6 7-6(3) 3-6 7-6(10) 13-11 - another wonderful and dramatic match. Sampras had many chances to win this match. He wasted 5 MP, he was leading 5-2 in the fourth set, later he had 4 MP in tiebreak and one more in the fifth set at 10-9! Korda broke Sampras, he had 11-10 and serve, but Sampras broke back! Korda broke again and won 13-11! This match lasted about 4 hours and 34 minutes.

Long fragments of this match you can watch here

http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...&search=Search

Compaq Grand Slam Cup 1993 final

P.Korda - M.Stich 2-6 6-4 7-6(5) 2-6 11-9 - Korda played the best tennis in his career. In the third set he saved one set point and in the final set at 7-7 he saved three breakpoints! So Korda beat two the best players in the world! This match lasted 3 hours and 57 minutes. Stich served the most aces aces in his career - 30!

I will add another great matches as soon as possible

Re: Other great matches (but not Grand Slam)

Compaq Grand Slam Cup 1998 semifinal

A.Agassi - K.Kucera 7-6(1) 6-7(5) 2-6 7-5 6-0 - it was a revenge for U.S. Open 1998 fourth round. Agassi had many chances to take 2-0 lead. He won the first set in tiebreak and in the second he was leading 5:3 and 6:5 on serve. Kucera broke back again and won in another tiebreak. Kucera was better in the third set, so he had 2-1 and in the fourth set he was 5-2 up! He was serving for the match twice! At 5-2 he wasted four match points... Then Agassi won 11 games in a row! He took the fourth set 7-5 and he beat Kucera 6-0 in the fifth. This match lasted 3 hours and 41 minutes.

Indian Wells 1988 semifinal

B.Becker - A.Agassi 4-6 6-3 7-5 - I think it was the first match when Agassi showed his big talent. He lost to Becker in three sets, but Becker told Andre "Don`t play better" after the final point. Agassi didn`t listen to him. That match lasted 2 hours and 9 minutes.

Rome 1989 final - 21 May 1989

A.Mancini - A.Agassi 6-3 4-6 2-6 7-6 6-1 - Agassi wasted one match point in the fourth set, probably at 5-4 or 6-5.

Stuttgart outdoor 1991 final

M.Stich - A.Mancini 1-6 7-6(9) 6-4 6-2 - Mancini used perfect baseline tennis to take the first set in just 25 minutes. He broke Stich for the third time in the seventh game of the second set. However Stich broke back immediately and won in tiebreak (he saved one set point at 7-8 and later won 11-9). The German beat his opponent 6-4,6-2 in the next two sets. Re: Other great matches (but not Grand Slam)

Sydney indoor 1994 final

R.Krajicek - B.Becker 7-6(5) 7-6(7) 2-6 6-3 - this match lasted only 2 hours and 36 minutes, but it was powerful tennis. Krajicek served 34 aces (Becker "only" 18) and won this Sydney 1994 final in four sets. It is curious, but Becker won more points than Krajicek (135-133)!

Paris indoor 1994 semifinal

M.Rosset - M.Chang 6-7(4) 6-3 6-4 - in the first set Chang was leading 5-0(!), Rosset tied to 5-5, but Chang won in tiebreak. However Rosset took second and the third set. He served 18 aces and advanced to his first (and last) "Masters-Series" final This semifinal lasted 2 hours and 7 minutes.

Re: Other great matches (but not Grand Slam)

Basel 1990 final

J.McEnroe - G.Ivanisevic 6-7 4-6 7-6 6-3 6-4 - I don`t know the score of tiebreaks, especially the third set tiebreak, but Ivanisevic wasted a big chance to beat McEnroe and win in Basel.

Key Biscayne 1992 second round

J.McEnroe - G.Ivanisevic 5-7 7-5 7-5 - another great win for McEnroe during his last season (after beating Becker at Australian Open). He defeated Ivanisevic after 2 hours and 38 minutes. It is impossible, but both players served only 9 aces (6-3 Ivanisevic)!
