Question Jewish tennis players

This is a serious request. I'm doing some research for my own interest. There was a book published in the mid-1960's called the Encyclopedia of Jews in Sports that included a chapter on Jewish tennis players (obviously covering ones thru 1965).

I'm looking to research & compile info for Jewish tennis players for 1965 to the present. I know it's a massive undertaking, but what the hell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Jewish tennis players

Aaron Krickstein and Brad Gilbert I guess? Both were relatively solid players during the 1980s.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Jewish tennis players

Nicolas Massu is the best player around which is Jewish.

I believe quite a few of the Israeli's around are Jewsih. Andy Ram is Jewish 100%, and I'm pretty sure Jonathan Erlich is.

Pete Sampras was also claimed to be Jewish, he has a Jewish father which doesn't make him Jewish from a Jewish point of view but would be classified as Jewish by other religions' rules.

On the WTA side Anna Smashanova is Jewish.

Re: Jewish tennis players

I believe Nico Massu's mom is Jewish and his Dad( from Palestine) is an Arab Christian. Nico was raised catholic as far as I know.

Pete Sampras' dad was Jewish I believe.

Re: Jewish tennis players

Never heard about Becker's mother before. And I thought it was Sampras's paternal grandfather. Sampras was not raised Jewish, I know he's said that.

Also, I've heard that Eliot Teltscher and Gabriel Marcus (ARG?) are Jewish, but I'm not 100% sure.

Althea Gibson's doubles partner (Angela Buxton?) was Jewish; the two of them allegedly hooked up as partners because they both could not play in most private clubs.

Also, a Dutch player from the 70s, Tom somebody, was Jewish. The name is escaping me.

C'mon, Lleyton!

Re: Jewish tennis players

Go to www.jewishsports.org and select "tennis" from the "Sports" drop-down menu at the top. You will find an extensive list of Jewish men and women tennis players.
