Open Tennis

I'm not sure how many people post in this area of the forum, but I'm wondering, if anyone knows much about Open Tennis (ie, how it came about, the specifics of it, who were significant figures in this move, the state of the amatuers and pros etc)

I'm researching for a thesis, and any help would be appreciated

Re: Open Tennis

Any decent University library should have a significant amount of books - particularly ones written in the 1970s which should help in this endevor. Bud Collins' Encyclopedia of Tennis should have some information on this also. Also, a simple "history of tennis" google search will give you a ton of information, you may also wish to add the key word "shamateurism" to further narrow the era you are wishing to study. Jack Kramer, Gladys Heldman and other figures were key in making the change a reality. Margaret Court's autobiography "Court on Court" also has a fair amount of info on this as I recall. Hope this helps.

Go Nole, Almagro, Rafa & Qureshi/Bopanna!
