insane prices

to sit courtside on day 3 for the day session at arthur ashe stadium, its
$340 dollars. i'd be willing to pay up to 150 or so but 340 is insane.
i wonder if all these expensive seats get sold , or they will be mostly empty seats.

Post Re: insane prices

Hi,
Yes, prices are ridiculous. For a ticket in the grounds, the first days, it's 40 $. The good thing is that the qualies and the Arthur Ashe Day is free. It's not like Roland-Garros, you have to pay.
Well, I'll be in NY saturday. I hope to have tickets for the first rounds.
It will be my first time there

Re: insane prices

As outrageous as those prices are, the tickets will sell . . . I guess people who only go to one tennis tournament a year are willing to pay the prices.

Re: insane prices

i'm going tomorrow. not sure if i'm going to opt for arthur ashe stadium
as mauresmo, federer and capriati should win easily.
i think i'd rather check out hantuchova and golovin up close.
hope to get some nice pictures of those 2.

Re: insane prices

Personally, after my first experience at Ashe, I'd go for the other courts, where the views are better. Especially if you're going this early in the tournament.

Re: insane prices

It's my understanding that those courtside seats get scooped up by sponsoring corporations. And from the 6 times I've been to the Open, I can tell you that a majority of those courtside seats go unused for the 1st week's play. That's damn sad. They don't even let other ticket holders move into those seats until someone else comes.

Tickets are around 50$ for day 3... So what's outrageous already?

Obviously if you want a corporate seat or a seat really closed, that you have pay a lot of money like 340$ is not surprising. It's the same for every tournement.

Re: insane prices

just a general question to satisfy my curiousity >> are ground passes hard to come by? ie, can you get them on the day?

or is that concept foreign to all slams besides the Aus Open *hugs it*
