Forty-eight (48) players received direct acceptance into the men’s
singles event at the 2004 Olympic Tennis Event based on the recognised
international singles computer rankings of 14 June 2004.
A National Association/National Olympic Committee who has more than four (4)
players eligible for direct acceptance into the men’s singles event should
select its four (4) highest ranked eligible players based on the computer ranking.
Any player nominated and accepted for the singles event will
automatically be eligible for selection for the doubles event.

Re: Projected Entry List (updated Wednesday)

So basically only Volandri will carry Italy's hopes it seems. Is there a qualifying tournament for this or not? and what surface is it on?

Can people please tell me these things.

There's no qualifying for the Olympics. If any qualified player withdraw he will be replaced by a player from the "next in" list, or if such player is not available by a player who only qualified in doubles.

The surface and type of ball are identical to those at US Open.

All other details are available in other posts in this forum (check as far as 3 months back)

Re: Projected Entry List (updated Sunday)

If this is the list of the players when will we know who is going exactly? I mean when is the deadline for the players to accept?

I guess that all the players who are going to the Legg Mason Tennis tournament in the US won't be going to Athens since the dates are the same...

I think I saw Agassi and Hewitt were going there so it would make sense right? Since they have announced they weren't going to the Olympics...

Re: Projected Entry List (updated Sunday)

Just one more question... it's about the doubles... will we know about who is playing and with whom on the same date or not?
Thanks!

You'll find all the info about the Olympics in other threads on this forum (from 2-3 months ago)

The selection process will take further 3 weeks, and the official entry list will be announced July 5 (the same day is also the entry deadline for Washington).
