Khachanov would probably destroyed the field had he choose to play here. He prefers to play a future in Germany, which it didn't turned out to be the right choice as he was routined against Kutrovsky of all people.

It would be fair to consider him one of the favorites, but I think putting him as the top one would be a reach.
Just because he pulled out a couple surprising wins on Russian soil and challengers where there was no pressure on him, it doesn't mean he can all of a sudden beat all these other talented juniors. He got routined in the second round of the USO four months ago, and while I'm sure he has improved since then, I doubt he has improved that substantially in such a short period of time.
