BTH Observes from MC

I been absent a while so....

Federer's confidence rocked slightly by the defeats to Canas, but nothing that a title here or in the near future wont remedy.

And the reason Canas has been able to beat him twice this year? Because he was missing whilst Federer was making everyone his bitch. Canas doesnt have the 'scars' inflicted by Fed that the other players on tour do.

Verdasco remains a comedy figure. How he lost to Gasquet, I will never know. It was reminiscent of his match against Murray at the Aussie. Hopefully Gasquet can push on from here though.

Safin needs to decide what he wants to do with the rest of his career, before these next few years pass him by with no achievements. Still, I expected the Vliegen win and backed him at 5-1.

Nice to see Ferrero playing well, but he was always going to. Henman is a great match-up for him. JCF can still pass as well as anyone, but lacks the power and consistency against the best; he didnt need them against Henman.
And this should really be Henman's last or penultimate year.

Congrats to Gaudio for win against Tursunov....hopefully we will see the backhand working well over the next month or so.

"My greatest point is my persistence. I never give up in a match. However down I am, I fight until the last ball. My list of matches shows that I have turned a great many so-called irretrievable defeats into victories."

It is just a match up issue, still Roger should have won the match at Miami. The match up issues would be exacerbated were they to meet on clay.

Nando is consistent in his inconsistency, he has lost too many matches that he should have won.

Vlegen is the type of player that can frustrate Marat on clay, and it was clear that the 1st set pattern could not hold for the entire match. The issue is not the loss but rather the fact that Marat seems to have lost a step on clay.

Definitely signs of life there, I don't expect Gaston to win against Nole but hopefully he can show some form later on.

That "scars" talk is pure . He's not a the Loch Ness monster. It's all about being more talented than other or about the match-up issue (further info will be provided by adee-gee, as usual on this topic).
