Blake def. Monaco 7-6(5) 1-6 7-6(0)

Blake for the very first time (including Chalengers and Futures) won a three-setter with two winning tie-breaks! Monaco led 5:4 in the 1st tie-break and 2:0, 6:5 (30-15) in the third set -> 10 points in a row for James

Houston QF:Blake d. Monaco 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(0)

Tight first set, letdown from Blake in the 2nd, and tight third set as well. Basically, James just stepped up in the clutch. Not Blake's best performance, but a win is a win.

Tim Henman--Gael Monfils--James Blake--Donald Young--Rafael Nadal--Jo-Wilfried Tsonga--John Isner--Janko Tipsarevic--Richard Gasquet.

I thought Blake would fade away in that third set but he fought back.

Re: Blake def. Monaco 7-6(5) 1-6 7-6(0)

I didn't see the match but seemed like Monaco got nervous or something after the 15-30 on Blake's serve at 6-5*

Pity Juan couldn't pull the upset

Congrats to Blake!

I believe Blake was the one pulling the upset. It's green clay, but it's still clay.

James! Very nice recovery from that second set. Wonderful to see him playing so well again. Hope he can keep it up.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."
