Former Finalist Ferrer Withdraws with Back Injury

Top-seeded David Ferrer has withdrawn from the Open de Tenis Comunidad Valenciana with a shoulder injury on Wednesday. Spanish compatriot Ivan Navarro Pastor, who was beaten in the final round of qualifying, will replace the World No. 16 in the first round draw.

Re: Ferrer Withdraws in Valencia

That sucks for Ferrer. It does give Bracciali a decent chance to reach the second round which is a good thing but I would have liked to see Ferrer do well in this tournament. Let's hope he has recovered next week.

Vamos David and Juan Carlos

Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid it will never truely begin.

What a pity he won't be there. Would have been nice to see him do well. Hopefully he will heal up quickly.

Doesnt Suprise me.

Other then the surface of the court in NC last week, Emilo Sanchez Said David wasnt that healthy to play.

INP certainly isn't letting that LL go to waste.

“ [1/L] I Navarro Pastor d D Bracciali 63 61 ”

Excellent win for the Spaniard.

Re: Ferrer Withdraws in Valencia

It is sad for David - he really wanted to play here becasue it's his hometown tournament. But he got the injury during DC practice, which is why he didn't play in the tie, and it's too risky for him to play this week with all the big clay court Masters and Roland Garros coming up. Get well soon David

Darn! I had him to win the title in a prediction contest on another site. I get Navarro Pastor in his place. Go Ivan! Lol!
