Well Blake has always had an issue with his confidence. So it probably has more to do with the fact of him not making it pass the 1/4. You can only stay so confident in your game with the glass being half full for so long.

He probably just needs that one break through and he'll be alright

He kept up a very high level for a little while...perhaps a level actually above his true ability. It is only normal for a player to "go off" for a bit after that. But I think last year was his peak tbh...

And he was playing pretty damn well at AO until he meeted up with Gonzo...If any match has something to do with Blake's lack of form now, it's probably that one. Or the on vs Malisse... :/

No.
I just don't think James has played smart tennis and that has nothing to do with Federer.
In his last two losses (before Serra) he has played against players who have had good backhands and James for some reason thinks he can go backhand to backhand or inside out forehand to backhand and win a majority of the points.
Well he hasn't.
When he had a chance to do that against a player like Gonzalez who doesn't have a really good forehand, he couldn't commit to it.

I don't know what's going on but he still has a chance to stay in the top ten, it just means playing great on his two weakest surfaces, clay and grass.
I don't know if he's up for the challange but a player with his speed and his volleys shoud be able to find a way to win more consistent on both surfaces.

What does that even mean? He's been at about the same ranking level for a year.

Not at all. It isn't like Blake ever beats Federer, when he is playing really well or not. James struggles mentally, especially if he starts slowly in a match. You can see him get negative at times. When not in front, and feeling negative, chances are it won't be a good day for him.

Hopefully this poor run will turn around ASAP. He's a likable guy.

Nope. He's just not even doing what got him a high ranking in the first place, going deep at MS and smaller tourneys.

Rooting for: Roddick | Federer | Blake| Fish | Bryans | Gasquet | Querrey | Baghdatis | Verdasco | Kimmy
Missing: Andre | Safin | Women's tennis

No, I dont think so. He is just going through a phase of bad form, he will pick up.

I dont think Fed's thrashing of Blake at the master's cup has anything to do with it because I clearly remember Blake was very ...thankful after the match. He said something to the effect that he "was happy to be his colleague" or something like that! So the thrashing was fine with him.

Right. I think you'll find that many, many players would be relatively happy with their overall game after losing to Federer in a final--especially in a Master's Cup. It was a great way for Blake to end a successful year.
