This does not affect the issue though, Roddick only usually gets one volley before he gets passed or errors: where he tries to end the point, he is coming to the net with lots of momentum and still hits balls that die in pace. It's completely odd after all these years.
He can't volley. That's the fact. When he goes to the net he only embarasses himself. If Ljubo, a very slow player, could pass him at will, this bitchdom today was totally expected.
And Rafa's 89% first serve percentage and lack of UEs had nothing to do with Roddick. What's your point?
I'll agree though that Andy played an awful match. Rafa shouldn't have had such an easy time of it against the #3 player in the world...doesn't change how cleanly Rafa was striking the ball.
If he did that serve percentage against Soderling, he'd be schooled anyway. Roddick can't return serves, can't hit a winner from the baseline. He's not a power player. He's a grinder-pusher today.
