Question Is it the first time in tennis history a number 1 loses to a lucky loser?

If so, congrats Fed, one more accomplishment to add in your biography.

By the way, "lucky loser" is a really good way to describe Willy-boy, his whole career...

No,it isn't..but
Canas is the first Lucky Loser to defeat a World No. 1 since Sandon Stolle defeated No. 1 Thomas Muster in the Dubai first round in 1996.

Ha! Well Muster being number 1 was a joke so it doesn't count. He won 3292394823904823498 Mickey Mouse clay tournaments and other players felt bad for him after his accident, and gave him easy wins.

LOL

Roland Garros is a MM too? Monte Carlo?

Muster was so amazing on clay in 1995 that he looked unbeatable! He played every week and every single week he destroyed everybody!

True, he was a machine on clay. I'm not sure that justifies a number 1 ranking. With the current ranking system, I doubt he could have become number 1.

There's no bonus point for beating a number 1 now.

I meant to say, with his results applied with the current ranking system, he wouln't have become number 1. I think.

Obviously not, the current Muster is #2.

I don't like hypocrites, but even worse are the ones who think it's OK to be an asshole as long as you are not hypocritical.
