They played against each other 34 matches but most of them was very boring Actually only two great epic battles: Australian Open '00 & US Open '01.

wish they were just coming into their prime right now, instead of retired.

I agree that those were their two greatest matches, and that some other matches were less-than-thrilling. But Wimbledon 1993 was also a good match, as were some of their Miami meetings, and the AO and USO in 1995.

Maybe, unfortunately I didn't see WB '93 match, but then two sets were 6-2, two other sets 6-3, so this suggesting me that match wasn't great... if we are talking about "high level of play + drama".

Re: Pete & Andre - Head - To - Head.

1995 was probably the best year of the Pete-Agassi rivalry.
As an Agassi fan, I have very bad memories of the 1995 US Open final. Agassi came into match on the back of a 26 match and 4 tournament winning streak. He was no.1 in the rankings and Pete was no. 2. Andre had beaten Pete in 3 out of their 4 clashes that year before this match. Andre could never beat Pete at Flushing Meadows and this defeat was the very painful, as IMO it triggered his downfall. Pete soon snatched the no. 1 spot of him, and his results became worse and worse.

Well I can more than sympathize with you, even though I was a hardcore Sampras fan at the time.

Going into that 1995 US Open match I wasn't too optimistic considering that Andre seemed to be gaining the upper hand in the rivalry and was near to unbeatable on hard courts. Agassi was #1 and people were just about ready to write Sampras off. But the serving display he put on in that final was just not to mention that legendary set point with Andre serving 4-5 in the first set which Pete won to win the first set

Lucky for Roger that Pete and Andre are retired and not in their prime!

Re: Pete & Andre - Head - To - Head.

Another match which I hate to mention but must is the 1999 Wimbledon. Sampras was simply unstoppable that day. Agassi actually played quite well in that match, and in 1999 he was at his absolute peak. He had beaten Rafter in the straight sets in the semi-finals, and I thought he stood of chance of upsetting Pete to claim the French-Wimby double. Pete seemed so relaxed heading into the final. While Andre was slugging it out on the practice courts, Pete was chilling out and chucking an American football around.
Unfortunately when Pete is playing to his full ability on grass, there isn't anything that Andre could have done about it.
