Please give Round Robin a break

Please stop trashing poor Round Robin. It's not his fault.

While I completely agree that his current use in regular ATP tournaments is very poor, there's nothing wrong with him in general.
Round Robin has his place in the Masters Cup, and also in Club tournaments around the world. He guarantees that players get to play several matches instead of just one which is a good thing. And he reduces the luck factor in draws so that the final positions in the tournaments are often more accurate than in Single Elimination events.

But he is just not that good for groups of just three players, and especially when only one player advances. It creates too many problems.

So please cut Round Robin some slack. He has been abused by the ATP so you can't blame him for causing all this trouble.

hmmm... never thought of it that way before actually.

GOOD LUCK: Safin, Murray, Ancic, Gasquet, Tipsarevic, Tsonga, Isner, Santoro.
BOO: Puerta, Davydenko, Kiefer, Ljubicic, Canas and all the DOPERS.

There is also a very special place in my heart for the three greatest WTA players of all time ---- Martina Hingis, Lindsay Davenport, and Monica Seles!!!

Re: Please give Round Robin a break

I don't like it much so far. Nothing wrong with knockouts at all. RR gives less chance of an upset in a time where two players dominate the rankings.

p.s. Please don't personify the round robin system... lame!

I'm still an advocate, the masses haven't done much to convince me otherwise. Seems they are only preaching to the converted.

Re: Please give Round Robin a break

I heard that Round Robin was talking with THE BYE about who will take more protagonism next week in the conversations I saw them training together also.

A post that deserves to be on MTF Hall of Fame soon:

May be this can be turned into an "Awareness Poster" to save the Round Robin...

But they should really, *really* STAY. OUT. OF. TENNIS!

Yep. There's a serious risk of being mistaken for the ball...

Re: Please give Round Robin a break

I think after the meeting in Miami, Round Robin will get a break. A long, very long break. I hope Round Robin has fun because it will soon have alot of free time on it hands.

I support......

The furry ball kicked over the net. We wouldn't want that for poor birds.
