Ancic faces long illness lay-off

World number 11 Mario Ancic faces two months on the sidelines after being diagnosed with glandular fever.
The Croatian has a mild case of the illness but seems certain to miss the Masters Series events in Miami and Indian Wells.

But he is expected to recover in time to play at the French Open, which gets under way at Roland Garros on 27 May.

Ancic has only won four matches this year, the last coming at the Australian Open where he reached the last 16.

Wow I feel for the guy especially after what happened before the US open series.

Ancic has mono

He'll be out for 2 months, missing both IW and Miami, probably back for Roland Garros.

For his sake, I hope he got it from kissing. Poor kid.

Bad luck Mario.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Ancic has mono

That really sucks

I had mono once, so I know how awful it is. It took me about a month and a half to get over the actual sickness, but I was still weak for about 4 months after that. It takes forever to get your strength back.

Get well soon, Mario.

Damn! He'll miss IW and Miami, last year he didn't play 3 AMS tourneys i think... Hopefully he'll be able to play on FO and will be in great form for Wimbledon.

I always thought Ljubicic looked dirty.

Hope Ancic recovers fully and soon, he did well last season despite missing a good portion of the season.

Very unlucky again!
No wonder he had such problems against Haas in DC!

He is going to miss 5 TMS. No chance for TMC this year.
