Why is Emerson Never Mentioned?

The Aussie Great of not too long ago won 12 Majors, more than even Borg. (I could add & Laver, but Laver would have won so many more had his career not been gutted by the transition to the Open Era, that it seems like misplaced concreteness to include his name here.) Yet, he's never discussed among the Legends of the Game. Does he belong among the greatest ever? Pete only won 2 more Majors than he did?

Nor have I ever heard him discussed casually during broadcasts. What gives here? Did he offend the tennis establishment? Is he gay? Isn't he still alive?

Re: Why is Emerson Never Mentioned?

It may be due to the fact that 6 of his 12 majors were won in Australia before it had really great fields and not many of the top players would play it.

Re: Why is Emerson Never Mentioned?

he was mentioned a lot when pete was on his way to pursue his 12th slam and then breaking it in wimby for his 13th. now that pete has a tally of 14, everyone started to forget about poor ol' roy...

He'll be mentioned later this year, at Wimbledon or the US Open.

Fan of: Federer Safin Haas Nadal Santoro Agassi Tursunov's blog

"I couldn't even tell you who the No. 1 ranked tennis player in the world is right now," Federer said. "It's probably me, still. It is, isn't it?" The Onion

Russophilic member of the MTF Perv Squad--objectifying Tarpischev, Kafelnikov, and Volkov like whoa.

Re: Why is Emerson Never Mentioned?

i think it's because he won his majors while most all the best players were ineligible professionals.
