Murray def. Pless 6-3 7-6(4)

41% 1st serves for Murray tonight.

His serving has been poor this week in contrast to last, he'll need to improve tomorrow.

Wow, got 1 out of 11 BP opportunities But all in all, Muzza controlled the match and didn't fail in the decisive moment

Got the win but I reckon Koubek will knock him out next round...hope not though.

Well done Andy. Any win will do against a difficult opponent!

Murray's serving has always been pretty pathetic

Well done Andy!

Excellent win Andy! Keep up the good work but improve that serve please!

He should beat Koubek in the next round I reckon.

Koubek will be a player Andy will more prefer to play as he is more aggressive I think

Things don't look good for Murray. Up till now he's been defeating easy opponents. Koubek should not be a big obstacle too, but I have a deep feeling A-Rod will knock him out

41% 1st serves, 1/11 BP converted... not good

Still struggling, but less so than at the same stage in San Jose last week. I think he's still got some big matches in him.

Better than yesterday for Murray but scope to get better still. Especially on 1st serve - he's had the irrits on that this week.

Re: Murray def. Pless 6-3 7-6(4)

11 aces from 29 first serves is promising though.

If he could just get his first serve in by another 20% this week he could win.

Re: Murray def. Pless 6-3 7-6(4)

As long as he wins and keeps annoying the haters I don't care how he serves or plays.

Koubek shouldn't be a problem. I agree, I wouldn't like his chances against Roddick in the SF, but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it. Consistency was a major problem last year, and he's yet to have one of his really silly results as of yet this season.

Things are looking good.

Re: Murray def. Pless 6-3 7-6(4)

Yep - every win this week counts now. So, a SF loss to Roddick wouldn't be THAT bad. But he needs to beat Koubek to earn more points, and hopefully he will.

Some times you play to the level of the person you're playing against. Maybe that's what happened here. Andy wanted a stroll not an all out assault today. Given the no of break points for each player it doesn't seem like he was ever troubled.

Really annoyed at Eurosport for not showing this. There was nothing else exciting on and they have TV rights. We'll never get a Wimbledon champ with the kind of commitment our TV channels show. Who's going to care about Tennis when you only get to see it at Wimbledon.

Re: Murray def. Pless 6-3 7-6(4)

Why all the doom & gloom?

Last week pless took him to 3 sets and he put out roddick

IMHO if he beats koubek the match with roddick would be evenly matched

Maybe, but Pless is no mug. I suspect that if Murray had taken more of the bps, he would have won pretty easily.
