Murray def Roddick, 7-6(8) 6-4

I expected murray to win....

bad 1st serve percentage got him in trouble in the first, especially when serving for the set at 5-4... second set, only lost 6 poinnts on serve, and he got the break he needed...

Very solid serving from Murray.

What did he say to Roddick? "I don't want to have a problem." or what was it?

Re: Andy Murray d. Andy Roddick 7-6, 6-4

The first set was great stuff. The TB was and then Roddick's game kinda went downhill in the second. Credit to Murray for keeping his head and playing very well. His serve has improved a lot.

Pleeeeeeease beat Ivo tomorrow.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Good job Murray, I'm sure he is looking forward to tomorrow as well. Just get the serves back and he bags back to back titles

Re: Murray def Roddick, 7-6 6-4

Nothing Roddick could do. He served at a really high % on a super fast court, won most of the points on his first serve, but couldn't win any of the rallies on his second serve. He couldn't win any of the points on Murray's first serve and lost a number of rallies on Murray's 2nd serve.

Re: Murray def Roddick, 7-6 6-4

I thought Murray did some wonderful shot making and that's what seemed to be the difference between the two players. Roddick just doesn't have that much skill. That said Roddick serve in the first set was far better - Murrays was only 43%, second set was 68% and the difference was clear.

On Eurosport we had it commentator free - it was wonderful

Re: Murray def Roddick, 7-6(10) 6-4

That was just awesome - from both players. A very high quality match with some outstanding shots and interchanges. American Andy had his chances but Scottish Andy played the important points to perfection. To me, this sums up the difference between the two:

Roddick's BP conversion: 1/6 (17%)
Murray's BP conversion: 2/4 (50%)

Other than that, there was nothing between these two. Great match.
