Re: Dr. Ivo "Club 25"

One of the most interesting stats of these matches come from match Karlović def. Ljubicić 6-1 3-6 7-6(1) - Nottingham '05. In aces Ivo won 27-0 (!!!) It's tough to imagine how Ivan didn't serve a single ace on grass in three sets

Yeah i remember this match.Probably Ivan tanked the first set after he got broken.

Ivan is crap on grass. He plays so well in hardcourts and even on claycourts too. But his record on grass court is very poor.

I wish someone could teach me how to be 6'10". After that, anyone with even a gram of coordination could serve rockets.

Thats not at all true, if it were easy there would be more 6'10 players who could only serve.

Peter Polansky
Nestor - Chvojka - Pospisil - Raonic - Peliwo

Re: Dr. Ivo "Club 25"

Dr. Ivo - San Jose 2007

12 sets / 7 tie-breaks / 113 aces

R32 Garcia-Lopez, Guillermo (ESP) 6-3 7-6(7)... 14 aces
R16 Blake, James (USA) 6-7(4) 7-6(11) 6-4... 29 aces
QF Fish, Mardy (USA) 7-6(2) 6-4... 17 aces
SF Becker, Benjamin (GER) 7-6(5) 7-5... 27 aces
F Murray, Andy (GBR) 7-6(3) 4-6 6-7(2)... 26 aces

113 aces - this is a new record in "most aces in a 32-draw tournament - best of three final". Karlović broke Verkerk's record of 109 aces (Milan 2003).

I was watching 6 feet away and I can tell you that Ljubo played a shocker of a first set (no real intention of tank to me)...probably as poor as he's playing these days.

Re: Dr. Ivo "Club 25"

I don't think it's a very good way to win matches, and it's actually quite unfair by the other player to an extent, but it is within the rules of tennis, so all power to Ivo for being so tall.

I actually do put most of it down to his height. He isn't serving the fastest serves on tour, despite having that huge height advantage, but he's able to gain consistency by being so much taller than the net.
