Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

Aaargh, why the hell is my computer so SLOW??!!! OK, you did notice the mistake. I look like I've been talking a lot of crap now, when of course I never ever do that normally.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

It's Ok Sjengster I think we have worked that out and no there are plenty of other people who fill up the crapometre quota.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

To address the topic at hand... um, I don't know. What was the question again? I'll check.

Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

The question was Which two players have been the only ones to take part in two Davis Cup singles matches that lasted longer than 6 hours? Besides the length of the matches, there was something else unique about one of the player's particular matches?

One of the answers is John McEnroe, who is the other and what was unique about the matches?

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

Let's see, George, did Mac berate another ump in each match? I am just guessing, 'cause it seems like a common denominator in every close match he's played....

No, that's not in sigma something else actually.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

hmmmm Mac played Becker in one of those 6 hour marathons. Let me think if Becker was involved in another 6 hour snore fest

Safin and Nalbandian had a cracker of a match in DC, 2002. Lasting well over 6 hours. So I'm assuming it was one of them.

Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

the other 6 hour DC Mac match was in the early 80s against Wilander. Can't remmember the year - so the answer would be Wilander or Becker I would think

That was doubles and not singles as the question stated.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Yes, you have the participants for one, but there was someone else besides Mac that played in two of them.

Once you guess that one correctly, then find out the common theme of both of these matches.

Actually they were not all snorefests.

I have no idea, any clue as to the era the person played in?

Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

Cause I am such a nice guy it was between 82-95, that's the best clue I can give you. If I told you anymore I would give it away.

Yes, Lurker you are correct that the answer is Wilander.

For the last part of the question what was the common theme for both of Wilander's 6 hr marathon matches?

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
