Who was the last 34-year old (or older) ranked in the Top Ten? (I don't know the answer, actually, but I'm interested to find out...)
Jimmy Connors in 1986 was hoping around between #3-#7
he was born in 1952

Jimmy finished 87 and 88 in the top 10

Incredibly Connors played his last ATP match in 1996 at 44 years of age

A true arsehole to the end and yes his longevity is to be respected without a doubt.

Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

There might be more, but the two that I know of are.

Roberto Carretro 1996 TMS Hamburg
Albert Portas 2001 TMS Hamburg

They were both Spaniards and achieved it in Hamburg.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Machado wins 6-2 6-1

Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

Henners was defaulted for hitting a ball girl, 1995. Was that really the first default at Wimbers?

I'll bet its probably not Henman in 95 for hitting the ballgirl, or Jeff Tarango for his altercation with Bruno Rebeuh. Then my money is on one of the following:

John McEnroe- although from what I can remember he was only defaulted from the Oz Open in '90 and not from Wimbledon

Jimmy Conors

Ilie Nastase

Other than that I have no idea who it might have been

Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

Yep, it was Henman in 1995 doubles match, hitting a ballgirl.......im pretty sure he was the 1st ever because at the time the papers and stuff made a huge deal out of it (1st default ever is a BRIT bla bla bla), tim gave her flowers and a kiss the next day

Nobody defaulted in the semis in 1998 (Federer beat Zovko); are you thinking of 1999 perhaps, where Melzer profited from a default by a future men's finalist?

Re: Useless Tennis Trivia

Someone told me this before too (i.e. Federer beat Nalbandian by walkover), so there is certainly some mis-information out there. I think I only found out that it was wrong when I went to check their junior head-to-heads for some other reason.
