Andreev def Gonzalez 4-6 6-4 6-3 6-2 to give the Russians 2-0 lead

Great day for the Russians under very testing conditions.

Safin was excellent against Massu and now in an even more impressive performance from Igor Andreev taking out the main man Gonzalez in front of his crowd.

Great stuff from Igor and the Chileans will have it all do now.

Andreev

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Gonzo's not more a claycourt specialist

he forgot how to play on clay

he's now a hardcourt and carpet masters...

congrats for Russia, he will win the cup again this year

for Chile time to think in september for the playoffs

VAMOS CHILE

Gonzo must have run out of gas
I am expecting good results including some upsets from Andreev during the clay season now that he is fully fit. Afterall he is the last Man have beaten Nadal on clay.

Re: Andreev def Gonzalez 4-6 6-4 6-3 6-2 to give the Russians 2-0 lead

No way I thought the Chileans would be down 2-0 after Day 1 at home. I expected 1 all, but Andreev stepped up to the plate and put a lot of pressure on the Chileans.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
