A volley of style
Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf bring rarefied European style to home furnishings
BY LAURA CARROLL
The Agassi Graf Collection by Kreiss premiered last week at the World Market Center, with pieces available for the living room, dining room and patio.
Each piece is a mix of creamy white and masculine, dark brown wood or leather. The collection reflects Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf's personal styles and tastes.
For the living room, the collection offers a sectional sofa comprised of a love seat on both the left and right sides, a corner seat, an armless chair and an ottoman. A cream-colored cotton chenille makes up the upholstery, which is surrounded by chocolate-brown, woven-leather straps and a hardwood frame. The complete sofa retails for $19,344, but each section can be purchased separately, depending on individual needs and tastes.
Next up in the living room ensemble is the wood-and-stone coffee table, which is simple yet lavish without being overdone. The tabletop is a solid-and-veneer walnut blend, elevated by two raked-stone bases. The table as a whole resembles a bench that you might see at a church or even a national park. It retails for $2,250.
Another coffee table option and arguably the standout piece in the collection, is the Vicenza stone coffee table. Made out of Pietra di Vicenza sandstone, the table features two pull-out, hardwood trays on its sides. The stone used is found only at the base of the Alps in Northern Italy. Weighing 200 pounds, the table retails for $3,450.
A lounge chair in the living room collection is made from woven leather, draped over a hardwood frame and featuring a novasuede cream fabric. It retails for $2,950.
The final piece in the living room collection is the ball chair, aptly shaped like a tennis ball. It is made from a powder-coated steel frame and is covered with a dark brown synthetic-rattan wrap. The ball chair retails for $1,695.
All of the furnishings in the Agassi Graf Collection could work in a modern home or even in a more traditional setting amidst one's antiques. Dining room offerings include the indoor-dining chair and the wood-and-stone dining table, which retail for $2,650 and $2,950 respectively. Both pieces match the living room furniture perfectly.
The patio collection includes an umbrella, outdoor dining chair, outdoor sectional sofa and a cabaña chair. The cabaña chair, with its mini canopy, is a knockout if you're looking for a unique and clean-looking design. At $5,570, the chair is made from woven synthetic-rattan skin 'round a powder-coated aluminum frame.
The patio umbrella is made from outdoor fabric on an aluminum frame and costs $1,995. The outdoor-dining chair, an outdoor-ready version of the collection's indoor-dining chair, is made with outdoor terry cloth and synthetic rattan, and retails for $2,450. The outdoor sectional is comprised of an armless chair, corner unit and ottoman, and retails for $8,650. It closely resembles the indoor sectional.
