One trick pony Karlovic smashed by Llodra 6-4 7-6(10-8)

Imagine if he didn't hit 20+ aces a match he probably wouldn't be a futures level player. Pathetic performance, an insult to the game.

If anyone has a spare backhand they're not using, can they loan it to Ivo Karlovic. Just sent it c/o the Croatian Davis Cup team - he may need it for the tie in Germany. Thanks

My, what a shocking result.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

It would probably still be 50/50 as Karlo can hold serve 95% of the time

You'd have to give the very slight edge to Mirnyi as he has the better return...

Re: One trick pony Karlovic smashed by Llodra 6-4 7-6(10-8)

They played at Wimbledon in 2003 after Karlovic had beaten Hewitt in the opening round and Mirners emerged the victor in four tight sets. I cannot understand the horror, the disgust, the surprise at this defeat, though. How exactly is losing 4 and 6 to a player with a good serve-volley game an insult to tennis? As a standout doubles player one would expect Llodra to play well against big servers, these simple tactics of serve-volley/return/pass are what he is familiar with.

Did you watch ? Our friendly giant only made 2 points off Llodra's serve in the entire 2nd set.
