Betfair Appreciation Thread

This is my first topic so if you don't like it - say so but nicely.

I would like to say a big thanks to Betfair. Not only do they cover many matches but the quality is brilliant.

And if anyone at Betfair is reading this - I am a rare gambler but I placed a bet during the AO with you and any future bets will be with you. You have my loyalty.

I know many MTF members can't get it - but for those that can lets shout our appreciation.

Re: Betfair Appreciation Thread

Good video coverage.

I doubt it's anything to do with betfair, but whoever was commenting on the guga match - he was shockingly bad.

He didn't seem to know a forehand from a backhand, a smash from a forehand volley and thought a backhand was a good shot when it sailed 9 feet long.

He had no feel for providing ambience at all, trying to persuade me that the ballgirls were tense about the outcome of the match and believed guga was a death's door in his medical timeout, then smoothly changed tack when guga got up and continued.

He pronounced Kuerten in several interesing ways: Curtain, Gurtin, Gurdin and Gurgin, and best of all, he kept announcing Oscar Hernandez like it was a pro-wrestling match.

"So it's 40-15 now - can Gurtin come back at his opponent...OSCAR...HERNANDEZ!!!"

I wanted to cry. I nearly did, in fact.

Re: Betfair Appreciation Thread

yeah, the bf commentator is awful.
I'm not about to start thanking them though. The 5% of my winnings (or losings) that they take is thanks enough.

A little bit off topic but during the Murray Nadal match I suddenly shouted at the TV 'For gods sake stop picking your pants out of your ass' no prizes for guessing which player that was aimed at.

You mugs shouldn't be allowed to watch the stream if you don't bet, period.

Re: Betfair Appreciation Thread

The first betfair stream I remember was for Munich last year. I hope it'll stay a free service. The commentary isn't the best and sometimes down right awful, but the video quality equals that of the ATP Masters Series Pay stream.

Formerly known as Four:Love.

Munich last year was cool - I recorded several excellent matches from that stream.

Re: Betfair Appreciation Thread

Does anyone know why we aren't allowed Betfair in the States? Is it the dollar versus euro? I can use my credit card abroad , why not for gambling on their site. Good for you all who can get it. I've had the bewin site and the livestreaming has been very good but they cover very little tennis. Who's in the know about this....anyone?

Once again tennis fans owe it all to gambling...without it there would be no tennis.

Could it be due to the legal wranglings going on in the US about online gambling? I don't know it is detail but haven't online gambling sites in the US been told to shut down for the moment?

We also owe it to you. If it wasnt for you losing every bet the bookies would be out of business which according do you means there would be no tennis. Thank you Mistatool.

Re: Betfair Appreciation Thread

You are probably right...I'm not aware of the legislation but it sounds so like Washington...It's really funny that there is so much gambling on television in the US...even on the Travel Channel...Puritans!! You can watch it but you can"t do it. Sorry to take this thread off topic...just Betfair envy I guess.
