Mayer moves past Seppi 5-7 7-5 6-2 6-2

After having choked badly in the first 2 sets Flo finally smoothly reached his best OZ Open result thus far

Nice German 3rd round match against Tommy Haas who leads their H2H 2-0 and will supposedly beat Flo without too much trouble; he's not a good match-up for Mayer

Still, great to have at least 1 of them in the 4th round

I expected a straight 3 sets win, but won't complain.

Wow. This next rounds is really going to be sweet and sour for many of the succesful tennis countries in this AO. Mayer vs Haas, Gasquet versus Monfils, Blake versus Ginepri.

Nice win. Haas isn't is anything like the form he showed at this tournament last year. Flo has a good chance to make the 4th round now.

Judging by what? His 3 losses at Kooyong?

Exactly right. Haas knows Mayer very well as they're Davis cup teammates; he's aware of Mayer's big weaknesses (forehand under pressure and the 2nd serve) plus he's more than proven that he's able to handle Flo's special shots....that's a no-go for Flo, almost impossible to win.

errr......do you think beating Albert Montanes 7-5 6-1 7-6 on a hardcourt impressive?

Re: Mayer moves past Seppi 5-7 7-5 6-2 6-2

Oh yeah, lets complain about a straight sets win in the first round of his first real tournament this year. I'm sure Nalbandian, Hewitt and Safin's 5 set struggles were much more impressive.

Ditto. I'm always amused when people say someone is out of form and than give a straight set win for a reason. Haas played great against the Serbian today.
