Looks we've got many all-french matches here.
Good for Fabrice, he'll save some points from the year before and have the opportunity to play in more singles events

Is it me or does it seem Santoro is getting better as he gets older. He's like 35+ now, I think. It does kind of give credence to the argument that perhaps the current ATP is not as competitive as it once was.

I think it has more to do with his extremely unorthodox playing style. Players are more and more used to matching up against different variants of powerhitting baseline ballbashers, not something like Santoro's forehand slice which is a truly unique shot in today's tennis. I hope his semi-notority and cult status helps create a renaissance for more varied tennis in junior players too.

Now go rip Coca-Kolya a new one, you wily old git.

Best of luck for:

| Santoro |

Clement couldn't get a point off Santoro's serve

Gasquet-Ferrero-Lopez-Mathieu

Nadal-Acasuso-Haas-Youzhny-Berdych-Gonzalez-Tursunov

Re: Fabrice Santoro defeats Clement 62 64 64

easy straight sets
malisse blew it in the first round, thought for a while he might turn it around, but almost gifted him the match to clement with his errors
watching santoro is always a pleasure, as unique a player as they come, a dying breed

Very well put.

Wonderful win. Great to see Fab at 34 still able to totally dominate Clement. The stats for the match were truely impressive. 41 winners to only 11 errors. Only one point lost on 1st serve in the 1st two sets. 13 aces vs only 2 dfs. And no breaks of serve against him and only 2 break points against him. Zowie. Would love to see Fab take care of Davydenko now and then get revenge for Berdych's unsporting display at Wimbledon by kicking Berdych's ass. Beating those two won't be at all easy but the way Fab played today it looks like he is going into the next match in his best form.

Fingers crossed. The longer Fab stays on the tour the better it is for tennis. Unlike so many boring power merchants he will be sorely missed.

Same here. Each of their match in the past were very very long, very very disputed, very very tiring...

They still detain the record of the longest match ever played in a GS btw...

Well done The Magician!
