Oh bloody hell, now the slams are using that claptrap system? Total horseshit.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

No, I mean - it doesn't go on (e.g. 8-6 9-7) it's just a tiebreaker at 6-6.

Re: doubles? third-set tiebreaker?

noooooooo noooooo they're playing out a full set. But they don't play an advantage third set. it's best of 3 tiebreak sets. Look, Damm/Paes just won 6-3 in the third. No supertiebreaker.

oops, we posted at the same time. I'm pretty sure it's been like this for quite some time at the AO.

But Butorac/Parrott won 7-6(5) in the third. I know they played out the set, but why don't they go on? Has it always been like this and I just never noticed??

Sorry for misexpressing myself!

I don't know about ALWAYS, but at least it has in my recent memory. Almost positive it's not new at the AO. I think Wimby is the only slam that plays the final set out in doubles. Not sure about RG though.

RG does... I remember Sugiyama/Clijsters beat Pascual/Suarez 9-7 in the third in the RG Final 2003... This is a nice bit of info for when I'm following doubles here.

That's last year's draw, I see some 3rd set TBs, same for 2005, and 2004, and 2003... etc..

oh yay, thanks for the clarification (and wet noodle for me being too lazy to look at the draw myself).
