It only slightly surprises me because Muller was playing pretty awful coming into this slam too. He lost to Alun Jones in Adelaide.

Re: Gilles Muller beats Gaston Gaudio 6:0 4:6 6:2 6:3

Muller has a strange habit of beating 1 time GS champs in the early rounds of Slams. Nadal at Wim, Roddick at USO, now Gaudio in AO.

Re: Gilles Muller beats Gaston Gaudio 6:0 4:6 6:2 6:3

Always honest, Gastón Gaudio talked about his unexpected defeat in Australian Open against Gilles Muller. "I didn't play well, in fact I played awful. Never entered into the game, the court was too fast and that's it" said Gato, without getting too much complicated with his result.

On the court he said one of his quotes: "I'm playing in slow motion and see all going at 3000 km/h". Then he added: "It has been like this since a long time and have been telling this about a year. I don't know the reason, I'm not here, I can't make things work and don't know the reason. It's more of the same, and I am worried since a year".

When asked about something positive from his defeat, the former RG champion said "good thing is that I'm going home early"

Geeze. I doesn't seem like Gaudio wins anything anymore. What a disappointment. The guy has serious talent, but his game has just fallen apart.

Re: Gilles Muller beats Gaston Gaudio 6:0 4:6 6:2 6:3

the saddest (and hilarious) thing is that he doesn't care for it either, and that is the reason he's drowning in that way.

Gaston is the bagel king

What a waste of talent.

Someone had to take Muller out of his slump... of course it had to be Gaudio.

Gaston is a prime candidate for early retirement. Doesnt seem too thrilled with the idea of actually playing tennis matches and that just might be a problem for a pro tennis player.
