Exhibition, I know. But, Roger was flawless, apart from one game in the second where he was broken. Marat looked good too.

I wouldn't say flawless but it was much much better from him. Safin played well too but blew it when serving for the second set and Rog pulled away in the breaker.

It was good to see them both on court together - it's been ages.

And Roger will no doubt feel much happier with his play after today.

They should already be putting his name on the AO trophy.

A sample of Federer's tongue-in-cheek humour: when asked who he'd rather play in the final - Murray or Roddick - he said he's looking forward to playing Andy.

I love watching these guys play against each other. It has been a long time. Halle 2005 I think?

I hope they play against each other at the AO.

Need ideas for a new signature...

It's getting tiring to see Federers opponent's blow a lead. Jesus.

Roger was asked afterwards if he thought he would face Roddick or Murray in the final:

Q: Roger, and now in the final you will meet Roddick or Murray, what do you think?

Roger: 'I think a Andy'

Glad he played better today. And glad Marat played well too.

Did you see it live? How did Marat blow his 5-2 lead? Stupid mistakes?

I don't recall Marat ever "leading" in this match.

Nice try, though.

He led in the second set by a break and served for it. no-one said he led in the match but he did lead in the second set

He was just going for too much, serving for the set. Federer hit a couple of awesome shots too. Both wings were very strong for him today.

I know that.

I was under the impression that he was saying Marat blew a lead in the match.

Not sure what woke him up today but glad he's playing better. Now just lose to Andy in he final and everything will be perfect.

The off-forehand was especially good today, and the backhand down the line was not too shabby either.
