Shanghai QF: Nadal def. Dimitrov 6-4 6-7(4) 6-3

Highly entertaining match! Rafa led 4:2 with one more serve to go in the second set tiebreak, then lost 5 points in a row! Great shot making by both, it will be nice if someone can post the stat sheet.

RAFAEL NADAL and GRIGOR DIMITROV

Rafa winning at least one slam in 10 consecutive years is the best achievement in Open Era tennis since Laver won all 4 Grand slam tournaments in the same year!

Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!

In office so can't watch. Seems he choked a bit. Bring on Cilic

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

Awesome match. These two are entertaining together. It shouldn't come as any surprise when Dimi is so similar to Federer.

I still think Dimi is the more talented of the two. But Rafa is simply a way smarter/tactical player. Rafa could beat Dimi if he was 50 years old.

In other news, Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un dislike each other.

The scoreline is so predictable between them.
In 6 of their 8 matches they played on hardcourts, Rafa won in the decider, after taking the first set.
Sucks that Rafa wasted an hour on court, had good chances to finish in straights this time, good thing he plays Cilic next, that shouldn't be a physical match.

Another routine beatdown of Dimitrov becomes a three set slugfest due to Rafa mugging it up at the tail end of the second set

Glad he got it done but it's going to be annoying if Federer gets to feast on a gassed Nadal in the final again

Rafas game was off today and still should have won in 2. Dimi was goating that third set except when he had that horrible game to gift Rafa the break. But Rafa just seems unbreakable on serve.

Feel bad for Dimi. Such a nice guy and really played so great yet still was hopeless no matter what.

Not this again. Of all active players probably only Federer is more talented than Nadal. If you have been a professional athlete (I have for over 6 years), you'll understand that Nadal is incredibly talented.

Isn't tennis IQ and tactical ability part of being talented? I'm sorry, but you can't tell me someone who hasn't been to a slam final is more talented than someone who has won 16 Grand Slam titles. Sure, Dimitrov has more variety in his shotmaking, but there's more to talent than your ability to make certain shots.

Wish evilmind won't mind but it seems to me that Dimi sometimes threw huge tantrums to umpire when things did not go his way

Re: Shanghai QF: Nadal def. Dimitrov 6:4 6:7(4) 6:3

I lost $10 at -800 odds betting Rafa at 4-2 in the 2nd set tiebreak that he'd win that set. Never thought in a million years he'd lose that set after getting up 3-0 in tiebreak and then 4-2 with still a serve to go. The odds for the match after he lost that set went down to -256 so I bet enough to win $20 to get back what I lost and then some.

Wasn't the cleanest of matches for Rafa. Dimi pulled some amazing shots out of his ass. And I thought when Dimitrov got the BP chance at 2-2 in the 3rd set that if he got it, the match was done because emotionally it looked like Dimi was into it and Rafa very low key. But, Rafa pulled thru in the end. I'd give this a 50% rating for Rafa. An average match but good enough to win.

Re: Shanghai QF: Nadal def. Dimitrov 6:4 6:7(4) 6:3

Nadal could have won in 2, but a slight malfunction and Grigor lifting got a third set going. Grigor did have trouble staying in the rallies, just lost for time but improved his serving to keep it close, until the break.
