Tiburon R1: Baughman def Auger-Aliassime 6-2 6-2

Is the the 1st truly poor loss of Felix's super young career? Baughman is a career futures grinder thus far, who will likely get to the challenger level at his very best. Does anyone know if Felix was 100% heading into this match? Obviously he is still very young and he has already had a ton of hype thrown his way, but that does not make him immune to bad losses, he's still a kid pretty much.

Baughman maybe had some nice potential before he got injured, was ranked at 341, beat Arevalo in qualys, has usually looked good in Futures, so why not be a CH player.

As for Felix he's mostly played on clay, hard is not as good a surface for him.

He won the US Open juniors. And has had wins at the challenger level on hard. Infact he's probably more of a hard court player than anything else.

So there you go, he maybe does have good potential.

It's quite surreal to say that a Canadian is good on clay...then again Sock is an American who (on paper) is one.

Nah, he's only good on the brown clay of Houston.

Why is things like "well he isn't immune to losses" when he got routined by Arnaboldi in his previous match.

FAA's good, but even thogh young I bet he'll always be somewhat inconsistent. He seems to struggle a lot with mediocre and below players.

I think motivation was a key factor in this match, Felix has already WC for Qualies in Basel, a pretty huge event, while Baughman was looking for his first MD CH win in over a year, Felix will be probably playing ATP level next year so yeah I don't think he was very keen to playing here.

I think his game suits clay well, but his fitness is too bad to grind out best of 5 matches in RG

(except the one vs. Haase, but there he was lucky the match got suspended)
