Laver Cup Day 3: Isner def Nadal 7-5 7-6(1)

Jizzner defeats Nadal but there's no thread?
Isner played super well and backed himself. Even won 24 straight pts on serve.

Best match I've ever seen Isner play. Not much else to say.

Federer vs. Kyrgios winner will take the title now? So I'm finally gonna watch one match of this event. Even in a exho, with a title on the line, things should get interesting.

If Federer wins Europe wins (sounds so epic ). If Kyrgios wins, they go to one set doubles decider.

Nadal's average forehand in his match was 20mph slower than his average forehand this year according to ESPN.
Playing the Laver Cup is the biggest mistake Nadal has ever made.
He's played more matches than anyone else this year already, and he needed a good holiday.

I seriously doubt 2 rather quick matches will influence him that much. He'll be fine.

Jizzner was out there today in full swing for most of the match, always a pleasure to watch when he's there.

Nadal game is not effective here. Also they played him too much. Thiem should have played today.

Where was Federer for support and advice? Not a team player.

Where are all the fed fnas? LOL Big match against Nick and a thrilling one at that.
Nadal biggest cheerer on the Euro bench.

Don't think Fed would be good to play doubles if he loses this.

Nadal's year is catching up to him, as the speed on his forehand shows.
First mistake he's made this year is the Laver Cup.

Re: Laver Cup Day 3: Isner def Nadal 7-5 7-6(1)

Isner played superb, Nadal played even worse than he did vs Sock from the second set on.

Let's see how he actually does in real tournaments, but so far the only good news from this exho for him is that the matches were short and Roger doesn't look that impressive either, which should bode well for him regarding YE#1. If he indeed intends to win the WTF he's got ways to go, though.

Nadal needs a good holiday before the World Tour Finals.
He's dog tired.
His matches at the US Open weren't too long, but its the long training hours, not the matches.

My hypothesis is: "This is Nadal's true level on hardcourts right now - upset prone to anyone who can hurry him on his shots and not allow him time to setup his forehand. US Open was misleading about Nadal's hardcourt level as he was able to win by just playing his clay game."

I could be wrong
, but Shanghai, Paris, Basel, and WTF will pass/fail this hypothesis.

Absolutely. He was totally pumped up and so loud you could hear him without the camera focusing on the Europe roster.
