Yes, McEnroe chose Kyrgios to play Federer instead of against Nadal.
I'm surprised that Shapovalov is not playing at all. I thought he would go against Nadal.
I'm surprised Thiem is not playing instead of Zverev.
In the doubles, I'll go with World in 2.
I'm not sure about Zverev vs. Querrey. Upset potential. Zverev still needs an education.
Nadal has never lost against Isner. I don't expect that to change. Even if Nadal isn't at his best, he'll tire Big John. Isner's best hope is to keep all rallies short, go for it, and get into tiebreaks and hope for the best. Nadal in 3.
If Europe has already won, then Nick has a chance in 3 sets.
Otherwise, Federer will show no mercy on Nick in 2 sets
Well Kyrgios and Fed will play 3 matches. Nadal will play 4 matches. Sock will play 3 matches as well. I am not sure what to think Fed likes to start new rivalry with younger Kyrgios or he likes to retire !
I would think that McEnroe would have put
Tiafoe vs Zverev, retrievers frustrates Zverev, rather than Big Servers.
Shapovalov vs Nadal, of course McEnroe had to make America great again.
Thiem, poor boy, oh well, he can keep eating his food and I will still watch him eat it all out.
Terrible decision from McEnroe. Why put Querrey up against Zverev? Not surprised at all that Zverev dismissed Querrey easily as he always seems to crack under pressure...
Lost all 3 of his matches this event and I def wouldn't have put him on today.
Best lineup would have been:
Zverev vs Isner
Nadal vs Kyrgios
Federer vs Shapovalov
Isner has a much better chance to take out Zverev than Querrey and is more fresh with the day off yesterday (plus why put Querrey when he lost twice already...?).
Kyrgios simply has the best chance of anyone on team World to beat Nadal and keep their hopes alive, and Shapovalov can come up with some magic of his own against Federer much like he did against Rafa in their first meeting. And it would have been very special for him to get a chance to play against Roger who's his idol and whom he never played against before.
Anyways, at the end of the day anything can still happen but the more superior team that's full of top 10 players will probably win this thing as expected. Too bad that Raonic, Nishikori, and Delpo all pulled out as they could have made this event a lot more exciting & much closer.
