I knew that JMcEnroe wants to make Fed "angry."

It seems a bit unfair that, by the end, Nadal will have played 4 matches and Thiem only one.

But viewers want Fedal the most, so probably a marketing decision by the tournament's organizers?

Yes, McEnroe chose Kyrgios to play Federer instead of against Nadal.

I'm surprised that Shapovalov is not playing at all. I thought he would go against Nadal.

I'm surprised Thiem is not playing instead of Zverev.

In the doubles, I'll go with World in 2.

I'm not sure about Zverev vs. Querrey. Upset potential. Zverev still needs an education.

Nadal has never lost against Isner. I don't expect that to change. Even if Nadal isn't at his best, he'll tire Big John. Isner's best hope is to keep all rallies short, go for it, and get into tiebreaks and hope for the best. Nadal in 3.

If Europe has already won, then Nick has a chance in 3 sets.
Otherwise, Federer will show no mercy on Nick in 2 sets

Well Kyrgios and Fed will play 3 matches. Nadal will play 4 matches. Sock will play 3 matches as well. I am not sure what to think Fed likes to start new rivalry with younger Kyrgios or he likes to retire !

Tbh, it kinda looks like both teams are trying to win and maximizing their chances.

Also, @masterclass , today there's only one session starting at noon local time. I.e. in an hour.

Interesting lineup. First meeting of young Zverev and Querrey. Zverev should be the favorite, but who knows... If he wins, and assuming Nadal doesn't flop, Federer vs Kyrgios is going to be a dead rubber. Hopefully, they'll play it anyway.

Finally, poor Berdych... I just don't see Berdych and Cilic beat Sock in doubles, even though they both are much better single players than their opponents.

Captain Borg's choice along with consultation with the players, and which captain would not go with the World #1 and 16 time GS winner compared to almost anyone?

But I did think that Thiem would go instead of Zverev. Maybe Thiem is not 100%.

What do you think Fed likes to retire or he likes to get new rivalry with young Kyrgios ?! Obviously Fed/Nadal rivalry is done . IMO Maybe their last match was in Miami . Only young guy like Kyrgios can make Fed to change his mind.

Actually Sock will play 4 matches as well. And is likely to be the most successful player on his team. Unless NK gets to play his rubber and pulls off an upset.
BTW, what's the state of his injuries now? On Friday his knees were taped. Yesterday he wore leggings. Should we expect a full body armor today?

I think it has already been decided. Laver knows and most likely Nadal as well.

ITF/ATP are the most scared of the Laver Cup and how it might change tennis and the status quo. Their silence on this tournament is palpable. And bigwigs refused the invitation to attend.

Or maybe they just wanted to win, Zverev is the logical choice since he is the superior player on HC this year. Thiem would probably be 50-50 against Querrey, while Zverev is a slight favorite.

It is very interesting what Fed said after their double match that he needs more matches with Kyrgios so they could become a rivalry. That is why I think Fed will help Kyrgios .

I doubt Thiem is overly bothered that he only played one match in this silly exhibition, especially as he is playing Chengdu next week. The whole event is basically a Fedal fan boy love in.

It is not about Fed or Nadal but what kind of rivalries they could create . Obviously Sock could challenge Nadal very well but i am not sure Nadal likes this. He likes Dimitrov because it could be more popular because of Dimi' SHBH. Fed obviously likes Kyrgios .

Re: WWW 2017 Laver Cup: Day 3

Laver Cup Day 3: Sock/Isner def. Cilic/Berdych 7-6(5) 7-6(6)

The tight scoreline goes the way of Team World. But they could have won it easier, had break up in second and then gave away from 40-15 up in a game! Then had MP that was saved and down SP in TB but clawed their way through when Berdych netted a final volley after a smash Isner retrieved.

Birthday boy Sock (turns 25) MVP of the match really, well done on this win.
now just 3 pts (1 win) away from leveling the score.

At the same time, Indoorsner can be tough to stop, he beat Federer in Paris in 2015 and made the final last year. I hope he shows up
