Jack Sock attempts a 1-hbh passing shot

Jack Sock attempted to hit a 1-hbh passing shot against Nadal at the Laver Cup. Does he do this often?

Re: Jack Sock attempts a 1-hbh passing shot

It was a 'silly' shot. To be honest his 2 hander isn't very strong and he'd have sliced in general for that pt.

Some other players I have seen use a 1 handed topspin pass on occasion, usually as a last resort and sometimes even successfully - Tsonga and Nishikori come to mind.

Tsonga's is actually quite decent, and surprising and you'd think had it learned to use it properly what a good shot it could be!

Kei has hit some surprising ones too considering his already solid 2 handed backhand. Again very much end range stuff.

Doing it to 1HBH players isn't very nice

Re: Jack Sock attempts a 1-hbh passing shot

Thanks for the videos, I have a bit of a fetish for players using a different number of hands to hit shots they would normally hit with another number of hands.

This one of Thiem hitting a 2-hbh passing shot winner is one of my favourites:

There's also one of Federer using two hands to hit a lob.

I'd love to see Wawrinka, GGL, Almagro, Shapovalov or Sela hit a 2-hbh. Especially Wawrinka/Almagro.
