Arrow 2017 Laver Cup: Nadal def. Sock 6-3 3-6 [11-9]

Once again Nadal delivers the most epic match of a tournament.
Tennis would be dead without this warrior.

Trademark clutchness at 9-9.

It's true.
It's because he fights like crazy even when not playing his best and manages to win. Nadal's game was not so great 2nd set and super TB, but his spirit prevailed. This is what makes his matches the most exciting of all--the fight in him.

OP, do you know what the Turing Test is?

How much more money do you get if you win?

he got lucky, two let cords went against Sock in TB, one that could have given Sock a set up for MP too.

Indeed. Rafa's matches can get pretty dramatic, mostly because he's not good enough off clay to beat players like Dimitrov and Muller with any ease.

Especially the Muller match was hugely entertaining, and a lot of that was due to Nadal standing over in china to return - it made the match really close. He rightfully lost in the end so it's all good.

I do acknowledge that I prefer watching Nadal's matches over Murray's. This might be because well, I don't get aroused whenever Andy loses...

Sock has a mental problem after losing very close matches to # 200 + at Wimbledon then he lost to # 60 + at USO in 5 sets again . Maybe if he has won this match it could help him. He has a game but needs to have more focus . Well well he must believe in himself more.

I wonder this too.
But it has to go the whole team, not individual wins, I would think.

I'd think the money is certainly not shared equally.

Sock def had Rafa on the ropes through most of the 2nd set. The Super TB was chaotic, Rafa was just clutch at 9/9.

I thought that too about a win giving Sock enormous confidence--I think it did that for Shap in MOntreal, Kyr years ago at Wimb etc.

It may be one of Rafa's many great contributions to the game--giving great boosts of confidence to lower ranked players by ocassionally losing to them. LOL

I like Sock, particularly that snappy wrist FH. But the BH is a liability. He will never be a top player with that BH. Maybe there's mental thing too, haven't watched him enough ...

Well it will be interesting to see Fed and nadal on the same side of the net in doubles.
Will there be peace on the threads at last?

if it were that easy, North and South Korea would well be united, as with Israel/Palestine.
