Too tough to predict.
Who all are playing?
Nadal, Fed, Thiem, Zverev, Querrey, DelPo, Anderson, Dimitrov, Goffin, PCB, Anderson, Berdych, DelPo, Kyrgios. (Cilic, is he playing?)
14 namesr. Nobody outside that is winning anything big.
I think Nadal will tire a bit. Unless he is superhuman. He has played 65 matches, most in the tour.
He may try to peak for WTF, or don't know.
If all of them are fit:
Shanghai: Fed
Paris: Querrey
WTF: Nadal
Basel: Fed
If Fed is injured:
Shanghai: Anderson
Paris: Querrey
WTF: Nadal
Basel: Dimitrov
I am hoping Rafa wins WTF, and one master's event of the remaining two, either Shanghai or Paris.
For now, Rafa's schedule is:
OCTOBER:
Beijing, China (October 2 – 8)
Shanghai, China (October 8 -15)
Basel, Switzerland (October 23 – 29)
Paris, France (October 30 – November 5)
NOVEMBER:
ATP World Tour Finals, London (November 12 – 19)
With all due respect to Rod Laver, Rafa should have skipped Laver Cup and should skip IPTLs and Mubadalas. Now that he is playing Laver Cup, he should skip Beijing and Basel too. Why is Rafa playing Basel at the tail end of his career?
Thiem and Zverev will not be fresh in the last 2 masters after so many tournaments played and Nadal will deflate as usual in the indoor season.
Dimitrov is skipping Basel (so he can't win it as suggested above) and is the only one who built his program to peak at WTF.
So we could have:
Shanghai - Fed
Paris - Cilic
WTF - Dimitrov
