Well, it was maybe the last match on PHM on the ATP Tour since he said he would like to finish his career at Paris Bercy M1000 only if he gets a WC for the MD (and remember that the FFT didn't give him a WC this year for his last French Open   )

I thought he could win this match, since Laaksonen played this week end in DC and isn't very reliable on HC, but I guess Paulo is really done

Sadly, this is the end. Hopefully the Paris Masters will give a WC, but after the incident at Roland Garros it's unlikely

Farewell, PHM

Yea, he's done

I watched the match.

He can still hit some good shots. The backhand cross court and down the line are still there.

But his movement isn't very good.

Also, the mental has gotten even worse.

He cracked at 5-5 in the first set when the match was still up in the air, after coming back from 4-2 down.

The last few years were really gravy, because back in '11 there was no certainty he'd be able to make it back to ATP level after the leg surgery.

He did make two ATP finals in '15 at age 33 so his comeback was fairly successful.

Hope he has a nice post career life.
