De Bakker pulls it off in great style, what a match did he play. Netherlands were trailing 2-0 (after losing two 5-setters friday), Haase/Middelkoop won in doubles, Haase beat Vesely earlier today and now De Bakker beat Rosol who was ranked about 300 spots higher than he is. His game is on a higher level though.

Promotion to World Group again. Berdych did not play, that of course weakened the Czech team, but still great comeback from the Dutch guys.

De Bakker in Davis Cup is always a beautiful sight. He feeds off the energy and has pulled off remarkable wins in those, this one is certainly a great one too!

Oh crap no, Czech's go out of the WG after a very long time being in it, Rosol loses to a crap player, terrible loss.

I was there on Friday and it was a great atmosphere. De Bakker really loves feeding off the crowd and came so close to beating Vesely.

I thought beforehand that selecting Rosol was a weird choice, but Haase really could not deal with his game. Gave him absolutely no rhythm and he kept the UEs quite low. The only reason it was so close is that Rosol's nerves are very, very frail. Haase afterwards said he really enjoyed how the crowd got under his opponent's skin.

Really impressed the team pulled this off in the end, and especially Haase playing three matches.

Years ago I thought Thiemo would become a solid top 30 player or at least top 50. What happened to this guy?

Gambling addiction, alcoholism and several injuries. If his body can cope he could improve his ranking a lot, but there's a big 'if'. He said he's never been as physically fit as he is right now, so I'm curious what he can do.

He had 3 losses by retirement the last 4 months.

He said after Friday that he apparently had a cyst in his shoulder for a while now.

You thought they would go with Adam instead?

I would have probably selected Satral over Pavlasek and then put Satral on court instead of Rosol. Although in retrospect, I think Rosol against Haase and Satral against De Bakker would have made the most sense. De Bakker struggles more against players who are solid on the baseline, whereas Haase clearly struggled against the power-hitting of Rosol.

I would not have put Pavlasek on court unless everyone else (bar Jebavy) was injured.

Are you serious about Satral, he's been terrible this year, no way would I put him on the team, hasn't played much DC and when has has not done well. Adam and Rosol are both better options most certainly, both are former top 100. Obv great if Berdych decided to play, guess he's retired from DC now.

Pavlasek played a lot better than Jebay in the doubles match though.

Pavlasek has been dreadful too. But I am a bit biased because I enjoy Satral's game more. Maybe Safranek would have been an outside choice too.
