Won two of the last three clay challengers he's played in Europe - so impressive.

Re: Sevilla CH Final: Aliassime def. Cervantes 6-7(4) 6-3 6-3

That was an insanely strange finish. MP, Cervantes ball called wide, after 30 seconds or so the umpire finally goes down to check the mark, calls the line judge out to point it out, no decision is made. Not sure if they could find the mark or not. Eventually the supervisor comes out and makes the decision and it was difficult to tell if the supervisor even understood that it was called out and that if it's in it's a replay not a Cervantes point. Anyway despite not being able to find a mark apparently they replayed it anyway and Felix won the point quickly.

Was hoping for the double bagel from 6-7 0-3 to 6-7 6-3 6-0 but he lost 2 bp at 6-7 6-3 3-0* 15-40, and just seemed to focus on holding from that point onward.

Up to 168 in the rankings now, thereabouts

Crazy to think where he'd be already if he played the Canadian hard court summer. We haven't seen a talent like this for a long, long time.

This really should have been over in 2 sets since Felix was the better player in the first. Second challenger title for the future GOAT Felix has absolutely no weaknesses in his game at 17 years of age. He could be a little bit better at putting away overheads but I'm not worried about that. It's just a matter of time before he makes his first deep run in a ATP level tournament now.

I think it's 2 out of 4? It was Lyon (won), Blois (lost in 2nd round, but had already injured his left wrist while playing in Lyon and took a MTO during that match), then Como last week and Sevilla today.

Very impressive! 107 207 points from the top 100, and started the year just over 600 and playing the smallest futures...

FAA won 9 games in a row when he was down a set and a break from 3-2 in 2nd to 3rd set. Pretty impressive run coming back from the wrist injury. On to next challenger next week in Bonsia.

Does anyone know what's his schedule for the rest of the year? Any chance to make it to Milan without a WC?

I heard that FAA is given a Basel qualifies WC is all I know and plus his rise to the ranking will give him easier DE to most challengers in next 3 weeks. Will know for sure coming Monday or Tuesday.

As far as the entry lists go he's in Banja Luka next week against Rola in round 1, Safranek/GMT in round 2, Carballes Baena QF, Marterer SF. Then a week off before he's the Tiburon challenger 3rd alternate and should get in in California, since he likes tournament blocks of 3's, Stockton and Farfield California challengers may follow. Then a week off and sounds like he's gotten a WC for Basel qualies? There are American challengers the 3 weeks after that. But of course we have no idea if he'll play them, he could play Eckental, Bratislava, Brescia, and Andria which are 4 weeks of challengers which follow Basel in Europe.

My gross estimation is that he'll need approximately 400 points more to reach NextGen finals. Looks like a long shot.

Félix is the second youngest winner of two challengers after Richard Gasquet!

I agree, it's a long shot. His best shot might be the wild card. Perhaps if he finishes the year really strong, he'll get it. But I can't take that tournament seriously with all its strange rules, so if he wants it, I wish him to get it, but otherwise I don't care.

He could be given a WC for being the youngest CH champion and proved that he could win or go deep challengers tournaments regularly and if he does well with one shot at Basel qualies WC this year, it's a doable goal to reach 400 points. They could take a look on how he missed summer HC due to injury and give him one if he got close.

He almost certainly won't make the NextGen Finals (are there even any points available at that tournament? I guess the incentive is the $$), but top 100 by year's end is actually possible if he plays well and stays healthy.
