Title watch is ON! Is this Benneteau's first Top 16 win in a while? To tell the truth I don't get why Winston-Salem has 6 rounds, when players are preparing for the last Grand Slam of the year. Only 6 seeds left ([1] Bautista Agut , [7] Lorenzi, [3] Isner, [14] Coric, [6] Johnson and [13] Chung) although I think Isner IMO should go all out here because frankly his Bo5 records are relatively quite sub-par compared to his American Bo3s.

I agree that Winston Salem is a joke.
Why 6 rounds like some masters? It's like some wannabe event who wants to be important and big, still many players don't care about it.
And just look at the draw, half of the seeds already out. Bottom half is becoming laughable.

It's because this is the only week where there is only 1 ATP 250 tournament, the other weeks without major tournaments all have at least 2 tournaments, so they need a larger draw for the players who want to play. Same story with Nottingham the week before Wimbledon the last few years, this year they added Antalya so there is no more 48 draw at Eastbourne.

Wasn't Carreño the defending champion here?

Anyway, this event is always weak, hopefully Benny can finally get his 1st title here or at least get another chance of a F. :p

Projected path to the F
R16 Chung
QF Zeballos/Dzumhur
SF Johnson/Edmund

Not much hard, if he plays the level he showed in Queens, he surely can do it.

And if he gets to the F, I don't think Isner will be there. He was broken 3 times by Kuznetsov yesterday, which probably means his body is already ailing.
