Who will end up having the better season in 2017, Dimitrov or Thiem?

Thought it's quite an interesting discussion at the moment.

Let's see the results:

Titles won:

Dimitrov 3, Thiem 1

Both have a slam SF. Thiem has 1 master SF and 1 F. Dimitrov has a masters title though.

Race to London:

Thiem: 3535
Dimitrov: 3060

For me I'll give the edge to Dimitrov, he's better on HC and the better part of this season is coming. However I must admit Thiem produced higher level of tennis overall, but didn't win masters because of ClayDal and Djokovic playing his best match. You could say he just peaked on the wrong surface.

Really? Cause I didn't see Thiem playing a full tournament with the level Dimitrov showed in AO or Cincy. Thiem was great against Nadal in Rome though.

As for your question, Dimitrov should finish higher, he's better than Thiem on outdoor hard and way better indoors. But who knows with him, he can also go to the USO and lose R1 to Benoit Paire.

PS I think Dimitrov has 3060 points, not 3160.

Do you wonder what I've been doing the last 3 months?

It's not, Thiem is done for the season, so obviously Dimitrov.

Competition is the same for both players, that argument doesn't count.

Who cares? One was stopped by the best Clay courter of all time while the other won a big tournament with a semi fatigued Kyrgios. I doubt Dimitrav will do anything else noteworthly this season unless the top players disappear for a tournament again.

This life, which had been the tomb of his virtue and of his honour, is but a walking shadow; a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

More interesting question would be who will have a better 2018, Dimitrov being ahead now with no clay left makes this all but wrapped up. Thiem did show promise with good wins over Nadal and Djokovic but then had to play the other in good form and couldn't back it up.
