As for myself I have to pick Kyrgios vs. Dimitrov. It's not only the best possible matchup, but it's also the only interesting matchup. Because of his great reflexing skills, Grigor is the only player left with a decent chance of breaking a good serving Kyrgios and Nick looks on fire and very motivated. When he is like that, he always produce great matches and points too.
Ferrer is a tourist in the semifinals, he would be easily routined by Dimitrov in this court (like he will be by Kyrgios, assuming Nick plays with the same energy he played against Nadal) and any final involving Isner is not even worth watching.
Btw, the currents odds to win the tournament:
Kyrgios 2.37
Dimitrov 3.00
Isner 4.33
Ferrer 7.00
Does this really require a thread? No disrespect for Ferrer (whom I respect very much) or Big John (who... is a nice guy? :lol, but I don't think anyone except for their most avid fans wants to see them in the final.
Kyrgios/Dimitrov without a doubt. 95% of people would like to see a new young winner I hope. Dimitrov is young-ish I guess, but seeing one of them win is good. Isner in the final would be horrible as he has a legitimate chance against either Kyrgios or Ferrer, and that would mean the death of tennis as we know it.
Honestly, I don't really care which final we will get. He will get either a new Masters
Champion or a 2x Champion. That itself is pretty good, although the tournament
strength has been rather weak.
3 consecutive Masters won by a non big5 is something that really stirs things up.
That gives the upcoming tournaments a lot more uncertainty which I find interesting.
Indian Wells: Rogie, Miami:Rogie, Monte Carlo: Rafa, Madrid: Rafa, Rome: A. Zverev, Montreal: A. Zverev, Cincinnati: Ferrer, Isner, Dimitrov, or Kyrgios, Shanghai: ?, and Paris: ?
Kyrgios - Dimitrov is the win-win final. 2 younger guys who drew attention to them early, but haven't been able to really break through. They both need it badly to bring their career to the next level.
Ferrer in the final or even winning it would be the worst case scenario. He's not exactly the future of the game and he doesn't bring an attractive game to the table. He's an aging grinder.
Why would I vote for option 4? Neither Kyrgios nor Dimitrov will be future tennis stars. They just don't have the mentality of a champion. How it is not obvious for people is beyond me.
