WWW Cincinnat SF: [7] Dimitrov vs. [14] Isner

This will probably be Dimitrov's best chance at making a Masters final.

Not sure, last year he was a break twice ahead of Cilic in the SF and managed to lose the match.

I think this match will depend on Dimitrov's efficiency on serve. If he manages to put good serves on the TB(s) and on other important points, he will win the match. Otherwise, he will be in big trouble. Isner will not offer many chances.

Re: WWW Cincinnat SF: [7] Dimitrov vs. [14] Isner

After watching just how Del Potro lost that 2nd set. I'm pretty sure Isner will get broken like a mug in the 1st set and lose the 2nd in a TB.

This life, which had been the tomb of his virtue and of his honour, is but a walking shadow; a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Big chance for both. Honestly I do not want to see Isner in another MS final with this sort of field. He hit 27 aces in two sets against Tiafoe.

The only occasion where heavy botting is not only permitted but strongly desired.

Re: WWW Cincinnat SF: [7] Dimitrov vs. [14] Isner

Isner is a tough match-up for Grigor on US hard courts. His serve is particularly effective and gives his opponents few opportunities. That means Grigor can't afford one of his regular poor service games where he hits a couple of DF and fires a few backhands into the net to gift his opponent a break.

Grigor played great, controlled tennis today against a far easier opponent but if he can maintain that level of concentration and serve well, he can win this.

You know tennis fans are in a pickle if they place their hopes of saving tennis in Dimitrov. But what are we supposed to do? Sigh...

To be fair, he's been playing well all week. And should be able to keep the trend and deal with Big John rather effectively. But that he should doesn't mean he will. Sigh...

Dimitrov doesn't need to save tennis. Tennis needs to save Dimitrov.

Nothing against Isner, but I hope Dimitrov wins. It would make for a much more exciting final, IMO.

Cheering for Isner over Dimitrov not only is cheering against tennis but also cheering against humanity(just see his twitter feed)

Re: WWW Cincinnat SF: [7] Dimitrov vs. [14] Isner

Dimitrov can certainly win it in straight sets. He probably doesn't want to go to tiebreaks. Isner is no slouch. He has more than just a serve and should play more like Karlovic. Mac must be tearing what's left of his hair out watching US men run the baseline.
