WWW Cincinnati QF: Thiem vs. Ferrer

Huge obstacle between Thiem and his 1st MS SF on HC. He still sucks on HC mostly, while Ferrer, according to his own tards, has found his magic stick again and is consequently back to his absolute best.

Either way, it's a huge match for both, cause their SF opponent will have to play 2 matches today and will most likely be totally exhausted.

Re: WWW Cincinatti QF: Thiem vs. Ferrer

i want thiem to win this to pass cilic(can be importent if murray will retire from uso) and gain some confident.
if federrer is even 50% as consistent as he used to be, he will, but 2017rer is probably not good enough.

Re: WWW Cincinatti QF: Thiem vs. Ferrer

Domi won their only previous meeting comfortably, but that was last year and on clay. Ferrer is exactly the type of player likely to give Thiem fits. If he takes a leaf from David Goffin's strategy book by counterpunching well from the corners, keeping Thiem moving laterally, and taking his time away then he should have a great chance of winning. Domi needs to be solid on serve and commit to the type of free-flowing, baseline-hugging tennis he's shown in flashes over the past month.

What's up with these Thiem-haters on here being so obsessed about telling us how bad he is? Now even starting threads just to take another jab? And of course not able to spell "Cincinnati" correctly, in spite of all the advertising. Quite a blatant exposure of ignorance and stupidity - good job, Chokehater.

Thx for pointing out the spelling mistake, copied it from another thread actually, but still may fault ofc.

As for the rest of your critique, Thiem's performances on HC over the last 52 weeks sucked pretty badly, I have no clue how you can possibly deny that. It's all relative to his ranking (and his performances on clay) ofc.

And if you wanna complain about "starting threads to take a jab" at players then you will surely find more extreme examples than this, doesn't seem to bother you though, don't act like ýou are objective in any way.

I think it will go 3 sets, then it's a toss-up, really.

Federer - Thiem - Wawrinka - Del Potro - Dimitrov - Shapovalov

Re: WWW Cincinnati QF: Thiem vs. Ferrer

I lost all my belief in Thiem on hardcourt when he lost to Shortman. I really didn't think that was possible. Ferrer defends better so he can definitely make Domi UE himself to a loss.
I'll go with David in 3 but I wouldn't mind Thiem proving me wrong.

Ex king vulturer against the undisputed 2016 vulture. Although Domi should take this easy in 2 unless his concentration and nerves might gift us with 3 sets. But nevermind even the 2017 badbackerer needed 3 against David one week ago.

Won't make much difference for Nadal is he gets to the SF. He will probably easily routine Ramos and then play a botfest against either Kyrgios or Karlovic. Won't spend much energy, unless you're talking about being tired mentally.

As for this match, I think Thiem will easily beat Ferrer, like he did last year in Rio.

Re: WWW Cincinnati QF: Thiem vs. Ferrer

Yes, unfortunately there is a high number of members here that feel obliged to share their dismay about a particular player they dislike on each an every thread, whether its Thiem ,Dimitrov, Coric, Nadal or whoever else.

I really don't get why you do it - if I dislike a player or his style, I leave the thread to the members that do - kinda a very simple form of respect, actually, basic human decency. Or at least critique a player without using derogatory remarks, or silly expressions...in the end you don't come over as cool or tough, you're just embarrassing yourself.

And no, Thiem's HC performance was not as disastrous as you portray it. He's been doing alright actually, and is improving year by year. He's not a Top 10 player on this surface, but I don't hold that against him.

Re: WWW Cincinnati QF: Thiem vs. Ferrer

Given their current form I would take Ferrer.
Both players are not the greatest on hard and David seems to play better on hardcourt
than everyone expected. He has also beaten some good opponents.
David has also won a lot of close matches, whereas Dominic has not won any this summer
on hc. In fact Dominic seems to struggle when being ahead. He was a break up in sets several
times in his last matches and did not convert.
Therefore I would favor Ferrer slightly to win this tight encounter.
