Looks like Thiem finally has his first pigeon (I think)

About the match: Domi was nothing special yet again. Slicebotting his BH like he did in 2015, and hitting loads of unnecessary errors from the FH. Of course he failed to serve out a set yet again, but a couple of games before that he did well to save three SPs on his own serve, so that kind of evens out in the end. The TBs felt pretty NID

Horrible result for tennis.

I mean, it's already bad when this boring blend of ballbasher and moonballer wins every match, but it's even worst when he beats a more talented and crafty opponent like Mannarino.

His confidence is totally gone. Hopefully he will win against Ferrer tomorrow.

So Thiem is a moonballer, now I have really heard it all. What's next? The grinding Isner? The talented Dimitrov?

A ballbashing moonballer. Get your facts straight

At 4-4 in the second set it almost seemed like he'd hand the set to Mannarino, he was so frustrated Hope he can make the SF here, he really needs a good HC Master's result to get some confidence ahead of the US Open.

Thiem was at least decent on the important points, saved set points in the first set and didn't implode in the TBs, already an improvement from his mental state the past weeks. Not sure if he can beat Ferrer, who seems to be playing at a top 20 level recently.

I'm happy Domi got this win, but I don't know about him getting by the again consistence David Ferrer?

I have a, shall we say, morbid personality.

I hope Ferrer beats him tomorrow. He is playing well atm and Thiem is a terrible HC player so Ferrer, the much better player has a very good chance.

Poor match, only good thing for Thiem is that he's won. The way both are playing atm, I seriously doubt he'll Ferrer tomorrow.

It is quite concerning how easily his down moments could be, even he was tearing it up on clay and had his best run on Wimbledon. He had few free points in the past weeks for some reason, with the 1st serve % being quite down I felt in important moments. I feel this match may be the catalyst and I still think he should be able to beat Ferrer too. An SF I think will make him overtake Cilic as #7 from what I know (although needs a title to overtake Sascha, although a final would give Domi just a few points behind him).

Talent is about the only thing Dimitrov has going for him.
