Cinci R3: Dimitrov defeats Del Potro 6-3 7-5

Juan suffered with the humidity and that cost him the second set.

Could be a career changing victory. Monumental effort to defeat Del Potro here.

I support Federer, Murray, Karlovic, Shapovalov, Goffin, Dimitrov, Djokovic, Gulbis, Haase, and others on occasion.

Good win for Grisho but it's sad sad to see Delpo struggle so much lately, I wouldn't be surprised if he skips the US Open or if he goes out in first round, he clearly doesn't have the fitness to grind out long matches in the heat and that backhand is very exploitable.

So Dimitroll has been waiting to become an underdog against DelPo in order to beat him and screw over the gamblers? Why am I not surprised?...

Good win for Grigor, hopefully PCB and Basilashvili follow suit. Let someone from their generation win this event.

Faves: Monfils , Kei, Dreddy
Cool: Nishioka, D. King, Wawrinka, Mischa Z
Retired: Santoro, F. Gonzalez, Blake

This match was pretty awful to watch with these sliced BH to BH rallies ending up in the net. i don't think the win is completely due to JMDP sickness at the end of the second because Grisho had already broken back. I don't know what to think about Grisho's form actually. I guess we'll see in the next round.

Delpo needs to work on his fitness. Well done Dimitrov to finally beat him tho.

Re: Cinci R3 Dimitrov defeats Del Potro 6-3 7-5

Didn't see that coming at all lol...

Didn't know it was that hot in Cincy anyway, things may have been quite different if del Potro didn't have a headache late in the 2nd set. But that's really with the fact that Del Potro's fitness hasn't been up to par really.

Still I'll take this win. Quite happy. Can't say much about Dimitrov's form, didn't impress me aside from the start of the match

Are you serious??? Dimitrov was a joke all match, he has the tools to play and win the match be himself and let the match in Delpo hands only trying to push.

Good match by Dimitrov. Only lapse was the start of the 2nd set, when he looked exactly like Rome. But this time he regained composure right after. Good to see him finally understanding sometimes it's better to exploit your opponents weaknesses instead of trying to shotmake through him to win a tennis match.

Del Potro was obviously feeling the heat at the end though.

Now Grigor has a good chance of matching his last year result in this tournament, but he needs to remember about the Toronto's R1 last year and don't underestimate Sugita.

Also, for the first time since 2010 he's ahead of Raonic in the ATP Ranking. He's currently 10th right now and will only lose the spot with a Carreno Busta or Isner title I believe.

Not entirely serious but I'm glad he won.

It took him seven years to finally suck less than Botnic, then. Terrible, really. Such a great talent wasted on such a doof mugface.
